Early in October I organized a one-day floral master-class in a former industrial space. In this first post I’ll talk to you about the autumnal bouquet we created in the first part of the workshop. For the second part stay tuned!

For this floral arrangement I was inspired by the image of ‘a young barefoot woman in a small garden picking flowers for her bouquet!’. The style and mood was bohemian but with my own personal twist.

Each flower was carefully chosen in order to achieve that ‘hand tied’ look. Different shapes, textures, heights and movement were essential to this creation. With all that in mind I thoughtfully selected the flowers: focal, filler, slender flowers and stems with movement and structure.

I started with the palette combination. Being autumn I wanted to celebrate this amazing season with various shades of burgundy, lightned by some soft pink and warm caramel. Round velvet carnations, perfectly shaped dahlias, silky delicate pink Mint rose, muted pink Westmister Abbey rose, scented stock blossoms, tiny detailed astrantia and chocolate cosmos. Last but not least delicate dancing clematis, tall slender veronica and the amazing graphic anigozanthos.

For the greenery I chose round burgundy leaves of cotinus, perfumed cool green lilac mint and winding birch.

Autumn is a magical moment to slow down and get inspired by the rich warm tones that nature is offering us.
