A Romantic Summer Wedding in the Italian Hills

In June, an English couple living in Australia, chose the Valpolicella region to reunite all of their families and friends, to celebrate their wedding. They fell in love with an amazing historical villa set amongst vineyards near Verona and Lake Garda.

Merrin, the bride, created an inspirational moodboard expressing the overall style and mood for their wedding. She wanted a natural, yet romantic mood and style, for all the floral decorations. The palette she chose was white, green with a touch of light lilac.

The civil ceremony took place in a meadow overlooking the vineyards with bottle green trees to set the scene. Here, I created two floral arrangements evoking summer blossoming fields and fluttering white thick satin ribbons tied to the chairs, added a very graceful note to the whole setting.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed an aperitif in the curated gardens at the front of the villa.

Dinner was served in the romantic courtyard surrounded by rustic white stone walls with wooden green shutters on one side and a little old church on the other. The two long imperial tables were decorated all in white, green and a touch of lilac. Running along each table the tablescape design was created with crystal bud vases with pure white flowers, crystal candle holders and small matte white ceramic bowls with a modern floral arrangement. I chose light camomile, delicate sweet peas, perfumed freesias, slender scabious, graceful saponaria and elegant eustoma.

The whole setting was bathed in the light of sunset and when night approached, warm Italian string lights were lit.

To match her fitted, graceful wedding dress I proposed a simple yet stylish bouquet made with elegant white sweet peas. Her bridesmaids were all in black so absolute white carnations were the perfect choice.

All in all, the day was filled with joy and laughter!
