An amazing wine event with flowers, fruit and vegetables
At the beginning of April the well known Verona wine fair was held. I was asked to create a floral backdrop for three soirees in a magnificent Renaissant villa nestled in the Valpolicella vineyards.
Together with the owner we decided to have a lively colourful palette mixing flowers, fruit and vegetables.
There were going to be two main locations for the event. The aperitif was going to be held near the fountain in the small stone courtyard, while dinner would be served in various halls in the villa.
Being springtime I had an incredible variety of flowers to choose from, such as ranunculus, tulips, anemones, fritillaria and many more. In every single table arrangement I paired fruit and vegetables with the flowers. Orange kumquat, Italian lemons, coral plums, burgundy radicchio and light green ‘puntarella’ gave a special twist to the look.
For the fountain’s grand scale floral arrangement I went for larger elements, such as reddish onions, deep purple aubergines, round light green courgettes, artichokes, light pink grapefruits and lime green cauliflowers. Last but not least I added tiny tomatoes and violet cabbage plants wrapped in soft moss.
The final effect was a celebration of uniqueness of texture, shape, shade and height. My vision for the whole event was one of a magical spring garden illuminated by flickering candles and chandeliers.
In the main Mirror hall I created two contrasting floral arrangements on opposing consolle tables. One creation was lavish and sumptuous, while the other was a more natural and minimalistic look.
For the imperial table I played with gold and transparent bud vases, gold tea-light holders, two antique candelabras and small silver stands. I finished the look with a single stem on each napkin, a different flower for each night.
In the others halls round tables were decorated with mirrors, different fruits, gold and crystal candle holders.
