Intensive floral workshop spring 2022 in Milan
In March I organized the spring intensive two day floral workshop in Milan in an amazing space ‘Lascia la scia coworking’. Originally an old soap factory, this industrial location was a perfect setting for my floral workshop.
I would describe myself as a floral artisan. As in the words of Italian designer Sottsass “my work is made with skill, love and made with the purpose of using every day.”
Over the weekend the focus is both on practice and theory.
On Saturday we first focussed on how to create a round bouquet using the basic spiral technique. Later we created a garden floral arrangement where the focus was on one colour in many shades. I then selected different varieties of flowers: ranunculus, tulips, anemones, wax flowers, carnations and roses.
On Sunday we go a step further and the first theme was how to create a natural romantic bouquet. Shapes, colours, and texture are important to understand how to work with different types of flowers. Every single stem is unique and it’s essential to learn how to enhance its uniqueness. The beauty of a bouquet is to allow every single element characteristics to show, whilst maintaining harmony.
I used mainly spring flowers in a contrasting palette of delicate pink and various burgundy shades. The amazing butterfly ranuncolous added lightness and movement to the bouquet..
The second theme was a ‘playful arrangement’ of flowers, fruits and vegetables in a vibrant spring palette. The colours were delicate peach, vivid orange, intense lilac with some splash of yellow. I had fun choosing unusual flowers: pretty grape hyacinth, amazing fritillaria, and of course tulips and ranunculus.
Two awesome days among flowers and passionate people who were willing to learn and to get out their comfort zone. An all round enriching experience!
